Chinook Rides
Chinook Heavy: Saturday Ride: (A group) Meet at Wake-Up Call Coffee on George Washington Way on Saturdays @ 8am (May-September, road) 9am (October-April, gravel). This ride is for advanced riders who enjoy a challenge and working hard. There is regrouping during the first 10-15 miles of the ride, but after that, the ride becomes a drop ride. The route is determined by the riders and the wind at the beginning of the ride, and usually covers a variety of roads each week. Average pace: 17-20 mph. Distance: 50-70 miles (but you can probably find someone who will go a little further with you if you want). Tri-bikes welcome, please no riding on the aero bars while in the group.
Chinook Lite: Saturday Ride: (B group) Same great ride, less pain. Meet at Wake-Up Call Coffee on George Washington Way on Saturdays @ 8am. This is a flexible road ride for all levels of riders, from beginners looking to challenge themselves to advanced looking for an easier day. The pace is challenging, with regrouping. It is a no drop ride. The route will be posted a few days before the ride on the Chinook facebook feed. Average pace 16-18 mph Distance: 30-50 miles. Tri-bikes welcome, please no riding on the aero bars while in the group.
Wednesday Social Ride: This is a social ride for any cyclist, beginner to advanced. The point is to enjoy some time with good people while pedaling. The group returns to the point of origin for food and drinks. The route is usually along the river. Check Chinook email and Facebook feed for time and place. Average pace: 12-15 mph. Distance: 10-15 miles. All bikes welcome.
Sunday Roulette Ride: Meet at Chamna parking lot on Sundays @ 9am. This is a ride for intermediate to advanced riders. The group rides road during the warmer months and gravel during the winter. The route and pace are determined by the riders, wind and the previous day’s workout at the beginning of the ride, and usually covers a variety of roads each week. Average pace: 15-20 mph Distance: 30-70 miles. Tri-bikes welcome, please no riding on the aero bars while in the group.
Sunday Southside Hustle: Meet at Trek parking lot. Sundays @ 7am summer, 9 am winter (watch strava/facebook for updates) This is a mostly gravel, with the occasional road during the summer. The pace is challenging with good efforts on the hills and regrouping at the top. All levels of riders welcome, beginners looking to challenge themselves to advance riders looking for a fun group ride. Riders are expected to ride within the group except for the harder efforts on the hills. This ride happens most weeks and the route is posted on the Chinook Racing Development (CRD) Facebook and Strava accounts. If you don't see a route posted, there will not be an official ride. Average pace: gravel: 12-14 mph, road: 16-18 mph road. Distance: 20-30 mi.
Chinook Women’s Ride: This ride happens periodically. Check the Chinook facebook feed for information.
Strava Ride: This is a virtual ride on Strava. It begins on Thursdays @6pm during the winter months. Watch the Chinook Facebook feed and email for details when winter approaches.
Bike Shop Rides
Greenies Taco Tuesday: Meet at Greenies @ 6pm on Tuesdays (March-October). This is a road ride for intermediate or advanced riders. This is a race simulation and friendly competition. The group races the river loop beginning in Pasco. With a big enough group there is an A and B group. The A group crosses the river at the Cable Bridge and the B group crosses at the Blue Bridge. Average pace: (A group)22-24 mph (B group) 20-22 mph. Distance: 20 miles
Greenies Saturday Ride: Meet at Greenies @ 8am. This is a road ride and no-drop ride, for intermediate riders, but welcomes beginning riders as well. The group finishes at Some Bagels for some socializing and after ride brunch. The route is decided by the riders and the wind at the beginning of each ride. Average pace: 15-18 mph. Distance 25-40 miles.
Civilian/Private group rides
James Gang Rides: Meet at Caboose Coffee on 27th on Saturdays @7am or Tuesdays and Thursdays @6am (during the warmer months). This is a road ride, for intermediate riders. During the colder months this ride turns into a MTB ride at State Patrol Trail System. Meet @ the roundabout at S Bofer Canyon Road and Ridgeline Drive. Same times.
