Chinook TT Series riders,
Next week will mark the start of the 2013 Chinook Time Trial training series season!!! The race against the clock … the ultimate individual challenge where “seconds” often feel like minutes. For those willing to “buy time”, you can go purchase a $2,000 disc wheel … or you rent one for $10. The Club rents a Zipp Sub9 700c tubular disc for just $10 during our local TT series and has repeatedly proven to shave time. Over the years fellow club members have used this wheel in pursuit of personal bests/records. Over 75% are successful regardless of fitness, bike type or weather condition. This year the wheel may even be faster with a brand new dimpled Zipp Tangente 23c tire installed for extra speed. If going fast isn’t your only goal and you’re looking for style points … the solid black, lenticular (dimpled) look is a winner. Want to be seen and heard? The “whoop, whoop, whoop …” sound as you pass people never gets old. Finally, some say a dis
c wheel is a poor choice in the wind. Wrong! The wheel provides the most advantage in windy conditions, providing negative drag (forward push) at certain yaw angles. However, use in extremely gusty conditions can be a handful.
If you are interested in a rental date, contract Greg Turpen to reserve at turpens at frontier dot com or call five28-one883. Several people already have their name on the calendar and the schedule is filling up. Don’t miss out. The Club will help you with your set-up if you need it, including shifting adjustment, cassette (gearing) options, brake pad swap (carbon specific), tire pressure recommendations, etc.
The Chinook TT disc wheel rental … it’s easy, it’s fast, it’s affordable!!! What more could you ask for? Good luck! Hope to see you all out on the road soon. FYI … the wheel is also available for major stage races and triathlons for
