Mission Statement
The Chinook Cycling Club is a diverse group of cyclists with varied interests. Chinook
Cycling was originated as a club for cyclists who enjoy the sporting aspects of
cycling, including both national level competitive cycling and regional level recreational
competition. The founding Chinook Club members were all racers in the United States
Cycling Federation (USCF), which is a national level competitive cycling organization.
Over the years, the club has grown, and its range of interests has expanded with
it. However, we still retain our original focus as a club whose primary activities
revolve around the sporting aspects of cycling.
As with many organizations, the club consists of a core group of members who actively
participate in helping to run the club and organize activities. These people are
interested in the promotion of cycling and help to ensure that cycling is a recognized
and accepted activity in the Tri-Cities area. The remainder of the members enjoy
the activities that are organized by the core members.
The following is a brief summary of the activities organized by the club and some
other information about the club.
Chinook Cycling Club Facts
The Chinook Cycling is a non-profit corporation with
board members
who hold two
year board positions. We have eight board member positions.
The club generates revenue primarily through Club Sponsors & Club Membership
Fees.
Racing Related Activities
Each summer, the club holds a weekly road based time trial series. The series is
composed of 5km, 10 km, 40 km, and hill climb time trial events. In the spirit of
competitive cycling we track the times of each participant and rank them in each
event as well as for the entire series. This is a club level series, but we welcome
riders from other clubs around the region
Every Spring and Fall, the club hosts a Mountain bike Training Series, which usually
consists of 5 events. The Spring Series usually starts about the first of March
and continues through May. The Fall Series starts about the first of October and
continues into the first of December.
In 2008, Chinook is reviving our
Race Team since we are one of the strongest clubs in the
Northwest. We have a very deep and talented pool of riders in the
Tri Cities and with support these riders can win races at regional and national levels.
Community Related Activities
The Chinook Cycling Club actively participates in city and community meetings that
concern the use of bicycles, both on-road and off-road, in the Tri-Cities area.
